NATURAL MENíS HEALTH: SUPPLEMENTS FOR A HEALTHY HEART -SUPPLEMENTS

The following supplements are wonderful to help prevent heart disease and stroke.

One or two omega 3 and 6 oil capsules daily. A higher dose - three capsules twice daily - can help reduce mild cholesterol problems over a period of three to four months.

Vitamin E: one 500IU tablet per day. This has been shown to be an outstanding anti-oxidant that assists the healthy working of the heart. This can be obtained in a combined tablet form with your omega oils. Check the dose with your doctor if you already have high blood pressure.

Hawthorn berry: one tablet twice a day. This herb assists to high blood pressure and is an excellent anti-oxidant for your heart. It also helps dispel fluid retention.

Magnesium: two to four 200 mg tablets a day (especially if you are very active). This helps to keep the heart beating at a regular rate. Magnesium is a wonderful mineral for all muscles but especially the largest muscle in the body -the heart.

Coenzyme Q10: 60-100 mg per day is ideal as a preventative; double the dose post-heart attack for a good six months. This is an excellent supplement to help create intracellular energy and vitality. It assists the mitochondria (the actual computer of the cell) in its essential work. This enzyme has been found to be of great help not only in chronic fatigue but also for those in recovery after a heart attack or stroke.

One to two multi-B vitamin tablets (which include B12 and folic acid) per day.

One garlic tablet (one which includes the active ingredient allicin) or a clove of crushed garlic daily. In clinical trials, garlic has been shown to reduce fats (lipids) in the blood. It is believed that the real value of garlic is in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. Garlic must be included in any program for lowering cholesterol.
